North East Sight Matters – 4th August
On the 4th August we were pleased to host a riding and pony care session for North East Sight Matters and this is what they had to say about their visit to us.

“Our children and young people have had a wonderful morning at the RDA, based at Kirkley Hall. The RDA volunteers made the visit very interactive, tactile and informative. From discovering the tools used for horse health and management to understanding the various parts of a horse, grooming Baz and Bluebell, learning how their height is measured in hands (4”), the food they eat and the tack that is required to ride. And then riding around the arena on these gorgeous gentle horses. Thanks also go to the Co-op volunteers Claire and Lindsay. Every participant was presented with a certificate, thoughtfully Brailled to make it readable. “

National Championships 14th – 16th July

The long weekend of the 14th- 16th July brought along the much anticipated RDA National Championships. Taking seven riders and three ponies down to compete at Hartpury in Gloucestershire is no mean feat and takes a lot of organisation. Everyone agreed that all the hard work was worthwhile and we are so proud of our riders and ponies.
Here are just a selection of the photos from the weekend

Special thanks must go to Chloe, Chris, Morgan & Emily who made sure our ponies were beautifully turned out and looked after both the riders & the ponies so well, giving up their own spare time to enable our riders to compete at Hartpury.
Special thanks must also go to Carole & Andy our two RDA coaches who taught & prepared the riders for the competition, as well as going down to Hartpury themselves.

10th June – Tea with a Pony

It was a beautiful sunny day for our latest Tea with a Pony and we were joined by a lovely group of ladies from Vision Northumberland along with their chauffeur for the day, Dan. We started as per usual with tea and cakes courtesy of Kate & Hazel and as per usual the cakes were delicious in fact we almost had to drag Dan away from them in order to go and meet the ponies!

Amy and her aunt, Margaret (aged 90!) and Catherine all enjoyed their time with the ponies as you can see from the photos.

Great fun was had by all – here are the group being entertained by Chris

SUNDAY 5TH MARCH 2023

As part of Cerebral Palsy Awareness month Morpeth RDA ran a riding taster session day at Kirkley Hall. The event gave participants the opportunity to come and meet our ponies and have a go at riding. We were joined by triple Paralympic Champion Stephen Miller, an ambassador of CP Sport, who usually competes in field athletics but had previously ridden as a child.

Well done to all of the riders who took part, we hope you had a lovely time and thank you to everyone who helped throughout the day.

Thank you

Michelle
